Product Development & Design
Transforming an idea into a successful product requires thoughtful planning, practical design, and a clear path to manufacturing.
Whether launching a new product or improving an existing design, we focus on creating innovative, manufacturable solutions that balance performance, cost, and quality.
Our goal is to help bring your product to market efficiently while supporting American manufacturing whenever possible.
K.E.D. Can help at any and all steps during the development cycle:
1. Discovery & Requirements
Every successful product begins with understanding the problem. We work with you to define project goals, functional requirements, target cost, manufacturing constraints, and project timeline.
2. Concept Development
Multiple design concepts are evaluated to determine the best balance of performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability before detailed engineering begins.
3. Engineering Design
Detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies are developed while incorporating Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), material selection, and engineering best practices.
4. Prototype Development
Prototype components are sourced, fabricated, or 3D printed to validate fit, function, and overall design before committing to production tooling.
5. Design Validation & Refinement
Testing, evaluation, and customer feedback are used to refine the design, resolve issues, and optimize performance, durability, and manufacturability.
6. Manufacturing Documentation
Complete production documentation is created, including engineering drawings, GD&T, bills of materials, assembly documentation, and supplier packages.
7. Supplier Coordination
We work with qualified domestic and international manufacturing partners to obtain quotations, answer technical questions, review manufacturability, and support production readiness.
